A complete rebuild of a bilingual cultural agency website, from a neglected WordPress install to a custom build. Nine pages in two languages, an enquiry form, full accessibility.

Context

The agency promotes cultural events, performers, and companies that want to be associated with culture. The site ran on a WordPress install nobody had maintained in years: slow, awkward on a phone, nine dead links in the footer, and the same services described three times under three different sets of headings.

What was wrong

• Nine footer links pointed at pages that did not exist
• Services described three times, each description different — nobody knew what they were buying
• Visitors had to zoom to read anything on a phone
• The English version was unfinished and in places still Czech
• No structured data, no sitemap

Constraints

Six existing addresses had to keep working byte for byte, so no search rankings were lost. No stock photography and no invented testimonials — the client positions itself on not selling hot air, so the site could not claim anything untrue.

What we did

• Nine pages in two languages, with localised addresses
• One source of truth for the service descriptions — every page renders a view of the same data, so the copy cannot drift apart again
• A custom monochrome design rather than a template, drawn for mobile first
• An enquiry form with bot protection and e-mail delivery
• Self-hosted fonts subset to the characters the site actually renders
• Seven automated CI gates covering colour tokens, dead links, locale parity, accessibility, and that no content depends on JavaScript
